Hello, Goodbye
Well I thought I could get back into blogging. My heart is just not in it. I have been cooking and baking up some delicious things but I find my energy is better spent on other things in my life than writing blog posts. If you are friend on my Google+ account then you will still probably be privileged to random food porn, cats and crafts. As for my jacket sew along. I moved in the past week, finally have enough space sorted to catch back up. I most certainly will be finishing that jacket.

Minoru Day 8

| Just ignore the poor photo quality and dog hair |
It's not actually my day eight for my Minoru jacket but for those following along with the sew-along I'll keep the numbers matching up with the steps. Sadly I have still not found my SD card for my proper camera, so phone photos it is. Sorry.

scrumptious spanish chickpea and chorizo soup
I am all sorts of useless email lists. One I actually enjoy in my inbox is Jamie Oliver's. A couple days ago a wonderful recipe appeared in my inbox. Scrumptious Spanish chickpea and chorizo soup was defiantly a must try. It just so happened that I had copious amounts of garbanzo beans that needed to be used within a day or two. I estimated there was about a can left, although they were of the dried and soaked overnight variety (less salt). I ventured out in our horrific west coast weather (for everyone else in Canada it would seem like summer) to find the remainder of my ingredients. Next time I will make a better effort to obtain a better quality chorizo, but the chicken chorizo ones I picked up were not the worst combination.
The recipe can be found on Jamie's site, over here! As a result of having less than amazing chorizo I ended up adding 1/2tsp of smoked paprika and a couple pinches of red pepper seeds. It seemed to balance things out nicely and provide the kick the sausage lacked. There are a million kinds of protein in this soup, providing me with some much needed replenishment. Don't be alarmed by the slightly watery texture: that's why we blend some of the soup and add it back. Well I'm off to finish up this bowl before it gets cold.

Minoru Day 1
The Minoru sew-a-long starts today. I spent a couple hours today ironing my pattern, fabric and finishing up a muslin. I am pleased at how well my muslin fits without any alternations to the pattern. I've not yet decided if I will take in the hips a wee bit or leave them full. I think it will be more versatile over fuller skirts if I leave them full as printed. I can see why Sewaholic patterns are so popular with pear-shape people now. Ladies with hips, these are made for you!

Notes from Afar
I have a wee pastime that happens to be a lifelong long love of mine: collecting postcards. I was a young girl of 6 or 7 when I decided to have a collection of something. I didn't know what to collect. My sister collected stamps; I tried my time with spoons. I found spoons to take up way to much space. They were hard to keep organized, clean and displayed properly. All that combined with the bank account of a child I was quite limited. Postcards to easy to attain and available everywhere my family vacationed.

A Big Happy Hello!
You may remember my former food blog, Danalicious, or a long ago personal blog Danasaur not longer around. Today I am happy to announce my return to blogging. I still love food, both creating and eating, however I felt it was just providing a small sliver of things I adore and am awesome at! I'm aiming for a realistic goal of one post a week, possibly a few extras as time permits. Since its still near the beginning of 2013 I'll share with you a short list of 'personal' goals:
